Job Summary
The Theatre Admissions Unit (TAU) is a busy day case ward within the Royal Liverpool Hospital that takes admissions for numerous specialities including but not limited too; Ophthalmology, Urology, Liver, Breast, General Surgery and Interventional Radiology. We admit these patient peri-operatively and complete a same day nurse led discharge if the patient is for a day case procedure.

This role of Deputy Ward Manager will include working alongside the current unit manager to lead and support the Theatre Admissions Unit team to provide an excellent high quality service for our patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as Deputy to the unit Manager they will be required to:
Act as the deputy to the ward manager, completing managerial roles such as, return to work discussions, sickness monitoring, rota completion. Be an effective leader and role model. Will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care. Support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance. Work flexibly as a member of the team to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.
Ensure high quality, evidence-based care is offered to patients and, in collaboration with the ward manager identify the common issues which affect the quality of care, devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings ensuring agreed action is undertaken.
In collaboration with the ward manager, ensure that the patient has a satisfactory experience by evaluating patient processes and redesigning the pathway of care.
Improve and maintain standards of essential (basic) nursing care by using tools such as clinical audits.
