Your new role
In this new Finance Assistant / Accounts Clerk job based in Bury St Edmunds, you will be joining an established and supportive transactional finance team processing sales & purchase ledger invoices for a group ofpanies.
This role is perfect for someone taking their first step into finance—such as an AAT student or finance graduate—or an experienced Finance Clerk/Accounts Assistant looking to develop further in a supportive, professional environment. You’ll work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders across the Group, playing a key part in ensuring the smooth and accurate running of core finance processes. Your key duties will involve:
* Maintaining accurate customer records and supporting day‑to‑day ledger operations.
* Processing sales and purchase ledger transactions in a timely and professional manner.
* Managing order processing and administration within Sage.
* Raising and processing Group sales ledger invoices.
* Handling and resolving sales ledger queries.
* Supporting Group credit control activities and KPIs.
* Monitoring and agreeing instalment payments.
* Producing and distributing regular sales ledger statements.
* Administering WAP and ensuring correct VAT treatment of invoices.
* Assisting with audit queries.
* Supporting the Group Finance Manager with ledger‑related duties, including deputising where appropriate.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will be an AAT student, finance graduate or experienced Finance Clerk/Accounts Assistant, with strong attention to detail and accuracy, confidentmunication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders, good working knowledge of Excel and finance systems (with Sage experience an advantage), and a proactive, organised approach with a willingness to learn.What you'll get in return
