Since 2005, MTI Welding Technologies, our Kingswinford facility, located in the heart of the Midlands has grown to be a leading supplier of Rotary friction welding machines throughout Europe. Our strong team of experts - who are a full-service provider to our customers - ensures that our customer's on-site service, OEM friction welder parts, installation, and operator and maintenance training needs are met.
As our influence expands, we are searching for a skilled and creative minded Field Test and Service Engineer. This position, based out of Kingswinford, reports directly to our Director of Operations and will travel extensively throughout Europe and the globe using your machine installation and trouble shooting skills with MTI's state of the art joining and welding equipment. Superior skills in diagnosis and repair of mechanical, pneumatics, and hydraulics systems are essential to this job as is an ability to build relationships with a wide range of customers in the field. Additional experience with electronics systems and/or robotic systems will ensure your success. Your ability to read blueprints and schematics and a willingness to learn and grow will position you for continued career growth within a company that provides extensive training and cares about your contributions. Working knowledge of ladder logic - predominantly Siemens, but also Allen Bradley PLCs would also be an advantage. You will be able to travel up to 30-50% of the time, (although for short periods of time, this could be higher) earning additional compensation under our Global Travel Policy.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Communicate with customers in a professional and knowledgeable manner
Proficiently working with PLC Siemens S7-1200, S7-1500, Rockwell PLC ControlLogix. Utilize programming languages including Ladder Logic, ST (Structured Text) and MCC for machine control.
PLC programming software Siemens TIA portal, Simatic manager, Rockwell RsLogix5000.
A good understanding of automation, electrical schematic (EPLAN, AutoCAD) and fluid power systems (Hydraulic and Lubrication schematics).
Conduct machine debug and startup.
Knowledge of functional machine safety equipment and safety guarding requirements.
Travel requirements throughout Europe as well as worldwide to install and repair machines, must be able to work without supervision.
Dismantle defective machines and install new or repaired parts, following specifications and drawings, using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
Modifying/replace machine control elements per electrical schematics.
Work closely with customer to diagnose and repair machines.
Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as wiring and electrical/electronic components of machines.
Install machinery and equipment according to drawings and other specifications.
Lay out, assemble, install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair/replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related components.
Install, program or repair automated machinery and equipment, such as flash turn off, programmable controllers, conveyors, robots, etc.
Apply trouble shooting expertise utilizing visual inspection, listening for unusual sounds to determine machine malfunctions as well as discussing machine operation and variation with customer personnel.
Provide instruction to customer personnel to operate MTI machines and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation for expense reports, working hours, service reports and machine acceptance documents.

Preferred Skills or Competencies
PLC & Robot knowledge.
Foreign travel experience.
Demonstrated experience with electrical testing.
