Purpose of JobTo be responsible for the technical delivery of systems within powertrain programmes and for major engine design programmes, including ‘clean sheet’ programmes to clients DutiesThis is a combined role where the successful candidate will spend approximately 75% of their time in a Design Leader role and the remaining 25% spent as a Technical Specialist covering one of the following areas of base engine or vehicle systems:Short EngineLube Systems and cam driveCylinder head systemsIntake and exhaustAccessory drives and cooling systemsEMS and emissions systems Quantitative aspectsNumber of employees responsible for – up to 5Department budget £TBCk-Other QualificationsA minimum of an HNC/Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Production or Aerospace Engineering is preferredAlternatively an Apprenticeship served in Mechanical Engineering or postgraduate workshop experience together with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Powertrain Design, with previous responsibility for large Powertrain subsystems is acceptable Skills and ExperienceA minimum of 5 years’ experience in Powertrain Design, with previous responsibility for large Powertrain systems and subsystemsGood level of base engine knowledge is essentialExperience of major CAD systems such as Catia V5/6, UGNX and/ or PTC CREOTeam worker with good communication skills and a sense of humour, showing proven experience in a design leader roleIdeally be enthusiastic and creative, while utilising good organisational and planning skillsExperience of Microsoft Office is desirable CompetenciesTeam workEffective verbal and written communication skillsResponsible attitude towards work and colleaguesTrustworthy, enthusiastic and creative
