A well-established engineering organisation specialising in water and wastewater treatment solutions is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to join their growing team based in Huntingdon (hybrid working available).
This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to take full ownership of design across complex capital projects, while working closely with commercial, operational and project delivery teams.
The position presents an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer looking to step into a high-impact role with real influence across project lifecycle, from concept through to commissioning.
As Lead Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative, efficient and compliant engineering solutions, while also supporting technical proposals and tender submissions.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end design delivery across all project stages (feasibility through to commissioning)
* Produce and review key engineering documentation, including:
* Process calculations, PFDs and P&IDs
* Layouts, specifications and design reports
* Undertake optioneering and develop technical solutions at tender and feasibility stage
* Manage and review third-party and supplier design submissions
* Support the development of technical proposals and tender documentation
* Work collaboratively with project managers and wider teams to ensure successful delivery
* Contribute to commissioning activities and ensure system performance and functionality
About You
* Proven experience in water or wastewater treatment design
* Strong track record delivering complex engineering projects
* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
* Good understanding of MEICA and civil engineering interfaces
* Experience in process design, including PFDs and P&IDs
* AutoCAD knowledge and experience
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
