WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
1. Control the design, development, and evaluation for new models from concept to mass production, ensuring they comply with the customer requirements, and liaising with other areas of R&D to ensure this is fulfilled.
2. Apply technical expertise to investigate, identify, implement, and support countermeasures and improvements to resolve complex issues and coordinate development issues; including evaluation failures and changes in requirements with internal contacts, external suppliers and customers, and other Panasonic organisations.
3. Mentor and support other members of the R&D department with the technical aspects of their work.
4. Critically evaluate design proposals and participate in peer review meetings. Develop test procedures to validate designs. Study EMC & Signal Integrity issues, identify and eliminate design problems before sample stages.
5. Consider new technology to improve and implement new R&D systems and processes, ensuring efficient product development and future improvement to product development.
6. Provide Information for the weekly project update (Issued to PMUK management), providing updates on any new or ongoing issues, including appropriate responses and actions being taken.
7. Provide necessary information for technical and strategic meetings and attend and contribute to the relevant development meetings, both internal and external.
8. Provide evidence that the relevant customer, Panasonic, regional EN), and general product safety directives are considered where appropriate.
9. Ensure liaison with customers, suppliers, and PMUK departments in order that all project stakeholders are fully informed at all times.
10. Fully assess and consider historic problems and endeavour to eradicate them from future designs. Leading and supporting engineers in this activity.
11. Ensure development builds are according to agreed schedules. Supporting with components and assembly house queries.
12. Support cost requirements for projects and developments, including samples costs, mass production parts, and tooling cost.
13. Support the Project Leader to create and maintain project plans/schedules for electrical/electronic aspects of developments.
14. Support the Project Team to ensure relevant project based AQ and R&D documents (NCL, schedule table, BOMs, etc.) are completed in line with the required processes.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Essential Requirements
15. Degree level qualification in an Engineering or business-based discipline plus 5 years of relevant industry experience, or at least years of relevant industry experience in a similar role.
16. Experience of working to demanding schedules, quality, and cost targets.
17. Experience in project management and control.
18. High level of experience in Electrical and EMC testing in a design environment and of fault finding to component level.
19. High level of experience of PCB design tools (Zuken CR0 preferably) and Circuit simulation tools.
20. Experience of mentoring and developing junior members of the team.
21. Passionate about a front-loaded, ‘right first time’ design methodology.
Desirable Requirements
22. Knowledge of PMUK home appliance products.
23. Highly experienced in designing electronics circuits and taking the design from concept to mass production.
24. Dealing with sub-contractor assembly houses.
25. Design for EMC/ESD and noisy environments.
26. Experience of soldering and de-soldering (including surface mount components).
27. Excellent knowledge and experience of electrical and electronic circuit theory.
28. Hands-on experience of using electrical and electronic test equipment and tools.
29. Must be an effective team player with a flexible attitude and good communication skills.
30. Experience of leading a team of Engineers/Technicians.
31. Self-starting with good initiative and able to demonstrate a methodical approach to tasks, with a view to developing own ideas and solutions.
32. High-level problem-solving skills with the ability to efficiently resolve technical issues.
