Are you an experienced planning leader ready to take on a unique and high-profile role within the largest Council partnership of its kind in England? We are seeking a Joint Development Manager to provide strategic leadership and operational excellence across the Development Management teams of Boston Borough Council and South Holland District Council.
As part of the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership (SELCP), you’ll be working in a dynamic environment that covers 49% of Lincolnshire’s geography and 300,000 residents. Our Partnership has secured over £40 million in Levelling Up funding, delivering transformative projects such as PE21/Rosegarth Square in Boston, Castle Sports Centre redevelopment in Spalding, and heritage restoration across the two Councils.
ABOUT US:
Boston Borough Council, East Lindsey District Council and South Holland District Council have formed the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership. The largest Council Partnership in the country. Since October 2021, the Partnership Councils have been working closely to deliver improved services to the communities in the sub-region and already there have been many positive outcomes.
Over time, it is envisaged that services will become formally shared across the three Councils creating the opportunity for colleagues to be involved in new and innovate areas of work.

About the Role
As Joint Development Manager, you will:
* Provide clear leadership and performance management for two Development Management teams.
* Oversee major and complex planning applications, ensuring efficient and effective delivery.
* Act as lead officer for planning committees and represent the Councils at appeals and inquiries.
* Mentor, coach, and develop staff, fostering a #OneTeam culture.
* Drive service improvements, manage budgets and contracts, and contribute to strategic projects that shape our communities.
What We’re Looking For
* Extensive knowledge of planning legislation and Development Management.
* Proven leadership experience and ability to manage diverse teams.
* Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* RTPI membership (or eligibility) and commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Ability to travel across a wide rural district as part of your daily duties.
