Supported Living Manager

As a Supported Living Manager, you will lead a specialist service supporting young adults with autism, some of whom may present behaviours that challenge as they transition into adult services. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring resilience, emotional intelligence and the confidence to lead teams through complex and sometimes challenging situations. You will be responsible for creating a safe, structured and person-centred environment, while ensuring staff feel supported, capable and confident in their practice.

Your role will involve:

Leading, managing, and developing a team of support staff.

Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.

Overseeing care plans and risk assessments to meet the individual needs of each resident.

Building strong relationships with residents, their families, and other stakeholders.

Managing budgets and resources efficiently.

Promoting a positive and inclusive environment that respects diversity and individual choice.

Providing visible, hands-on leadership within the service, including during incidents or periods of heightened behaviour.

Supporting staff to manage behaviours that challenge in a safe, consistent and person-centred way.

Embedding a calm, structured environment that promotes positive outcomes for the people we support.

Supported Living Manager Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management: Provide strong leadership to your team, ensuring staff are well-supported and motivated. Conduct regular supervisions, appraisals, and training sessions.

Implement and embed Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches across the service.

Be confident in making decisions under pressure and having courageous conversations to maintain high standards of care.

Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of care, ensuring services comply with CQC regulations and other relevant frameworks.

Person-Centered Care: Develop and implement personalized care plans that reflect the individual needs, preferences, and goals of each resident.

Ensure that staff are trained, confident and consistent in responding to behaviours that challenge.

Review and adapt support strategies in response to incidents, ensuring continuous learning and improvement.

Communication: Foster effective communication within the team, with residents, families, and external professionals.

Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents, implementing safeguarding policies and procedures effectively.

Financial Management: Oversee the financial aspects of the service, including budgeting, invoicing, and resource allocation.

Supported Living Manager Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

A minimum of 1 years experience in a similar role within social care.

Strong leadership and management skills.

Experience and excellent understanding of autism, PBS, mental health issues, and learning disabilities.

Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Confidence in managing risk, making decisions and holding boundaries.

Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable:

A relevant qualification in Health & Social Care.

Previous experience in a supported living environment.

Knowledge of CQC standards and regulations.

Experience in staff training and development.

This role would suit someone who:

Enjoys being present within the service as well as administration tasks.

Is confident supporting other staff with managing challenging behaviours.

Can stay calm and decisive under pressure.

Leads by example and is not afraid to step in when needed.

Is passionate about improving outcomes for people with complex needs.

About The Service

Supported Living Home for 4 Young men with Autism.

1. There will be behaviours that challenge so the applicant needs to be brave and resilient as well as a strong leader.

2. This is an exciting opportunity because it is a brand new service in a new Local Authority.

3. There is an opportunity to increase the admin element of the role as the Area grows.
