Are you ready to take your event management skills to the next level in a role that truly matters? We are looking for a passionate and experienced Events Lead to join our Psychotherapeutic Team and help create unforgettable experiences for the children and families we support on a temporary basis of up to 12 months.


Main duties of the job

In this rewarding role, you'll take the lead on planning and delivering a vibrant calendar of both virtual and in-person Family Events. Working closely with our dedicated Nursing Care, Family Liaison, Creative Therapies, and Bereavement Teams, you'll ensure every event is meaningful, memorable, and delivered with care.

* Proven leadership and event management experience, ideally within the charity or healthcare sector.
* A creative, proactive mindset with a sharp eye for detail and exceptional organisational skills.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* A collaborative approach, ready to work with internal teams and external partners to bring family events to life.
* Sensitivity and discretion when handling confidential and emotional situations.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Graduate-level degree or equivalent, with event management experience, preferably in the healthcare or charity sector.
* Self-motivated and able to work independently, managing both personal workload and event responsibilities.
* Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines in an events environment.
* Strong leadership skills, including experience supervising staff or volunteers.
* Proficient in IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experienced in communicating with stakeholders through various digital platforms, including email marketing software.
* Excellent communication skills, with experience managing diverse stakeholders and working across teams to achieve event objectives.
* Ability to write proposals, participation roles, briefings, and manage event data for trend analysis and report compilation.
* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends occasionally to meet service needs.
* Demonstrate close alignment to all Demelza values.
* This role requires regular travel across our operating region. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use or reliable transport arrangements are essential.
* Possess a qualification in Event Management.
* Understanding of the challenges and sensitivities faced by Demelza families in a hospice setting.
* Experience in managing budgets and financial processes.
* A creative and compassionate mindset to develop engaging, uplifting events suitable for specific caseloads.
* Excellent attention to detail in proofreading communications and documentation.
* Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams, external partners, and volunteers, maintaining sensitivity to the hospice environment.
