Job Role: HGV Class 1 Driver Location: Nottingham (covering Areas 7 & 8 – Midlands / East) Contract: Permanent Salary: £43,000 Night Allowance (Time & 1/3) Role Overview: We are recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to support highways and civil engineering works across Areas 7 & 8. Based around Nottingham, this permanent role offers long‑term stability with a leading national contractor, delivering major infrastructure projects across the Midlands and Eastern regions. This role involves transporting plant, materials, and equipment between project sites, supporting night works when required, and ensuring safe, compliant vehicle operation at all times. The position offers strong earning potential through night shifts paid at time and a third. Key Responsibilities: • Safely operate Class 1 vehicles to transport plant, materials, and equipment • Complete deliveries and collections across multiple project sites • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects • Ensure all loads are secured and compliant with transport regulations • Work closely with site teams, planners, and supervisors • Follow site procedures, RAMS, and Health & Safety instructions • Support occasional site-based duties when required • Maintain accurate paperwork, delivery notes, and logs • Represent the company professionally with clients, road users, and colleagues Skills & Experience Required: • Valid HGV Class 1 (CE) licence • CPC and Digital Tachograph card – essential • Experience within civils, highways, construction, or plant transport preferred • Strong understanding of transport legislation and working time regulations • Ability to work nights when required (enhanced rate applies) • Good communication and teamwork skills • Safe, professional, and reliable approach to driving • Full clean driving licence preferred Salary & Benefits: • £43,000 per year • Night allowance paid at time and a third • Permanent role with long-term job security • Work on high-profile infrastructure projects across Areas 7 & 8 • Career development opportunities with a respected national contractor Why Apply: • Join a well-established contractor with excellent workforce retention • Consistent work across major highways projects • Strong earning potential with enhanced night rates • Supportive team environment and strong safety culture
