This charity is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to provide vital leadership and oversight during a 12-month fixed term contract. Based in Edinburgh, this full-time position offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-impact organisation. Hybrid working arrangements are available. The Opportunity You will play a key role in ensuring the charity's financial sustainability, transparency, and compliance. Reporting to the Finance Director, you'll lead a small team in delivering accurate financial reporting, effective controls, and insightful analysis that supports strategic decision-making. This role offers the chance to apply your technical expertise and leadership skills within an organisation driven by purpose and values. Key Responsibilities Lead on financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and year-end audit processes. Oversee day-to-day financial operations including payroll, accounting, and financial controls. Manage statutory accounts for the charity and its subsidiary in accordance with OSCR and SORP standards. Provide strategic financial insight to the senior leadership team and trustees. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice financial governance. Oversee the financial management of grants and funding streams. Identify and manage financial risk, supporting ethical and sustainable financial practices. Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and improvement. What You'll Bring Fully qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). Proven senior-level finance experience, within the charity or not-for-profit sector is desirable. Strong knowledge of financial management, FRS 102, and charity SORP is desirable. Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills. Ability to present complex financial information to non-financial colleagues. Experience managing audits and external reporting requirements. Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency.
