Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Bury (Day Shift) 🔧🏭

💷 Salary: £40,000 – £42,000 per annum (depending on experience)
⏰ Hours: Monday–Thursday, 6:00am–4:00pm (40 hrs/week)

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of maintenance activities at a fast-paced production site. You’ll be responsible for PPM, breakdowns, site services, compliance, and contractor control, ensuring safe and reliable operation across all machines and facilities.
The role requires strong electrical and mechanical capability, covering fault-finding on production machinery, site services, and safety systems. Ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, variety, and being the go-to person for engineering support.
🔧 What You’ll Be Doing
Planned Maintenance & Breakdown Response
Deliver the full PPM schedule for the site
Accurately log and close out maintenance tasks
React quickly and safely to mechanical and electrical breakdowns
Plan major repairs and shutdowns with minimal disruption
Compliance, Safety & Site Standards
Ensure statutory inspections are completed (LOLER, pressure systems, LEV, electrical, fire safety)
Maintain guarding, interlocks, LOTO, emergency lighting, and alarms
Support safe systems of work including permits, RAMS, hot work, and working at height
Report and act on any safety concerns or machinery risks
Multi-Skilled Engineering
Electrical fault finding on motors, sensors, drives, panels, and safety circuits
Mechanical fault finding, strip downs, and rebuilds
Bearings, belts, shafts, pumps, valves, pneumatics, and hydraulics
Fabrication and fitting when required
Supporting machine improvements and reliability projects
Site Services & Facilities
Maintain compressed air, HVAC, lighting, extraction, and general building fabric
Highlight areas requiring repair or capital investment
Keep the site tidy, safe, and audit-ready
Contractor & Supplier Management
Source and supervise contractors for specialist work
Review RAMS, issue permits, and ensure safe working practices
Manage costs for parts, spares, and external services
Cost & Energy Awareness
Monitor and control maintenance spend
Identify energy and resource waste and suggest improvements

💡 Essential Experience
✔️ Proven multi-skilled maintenance experience in manufacturing/industrial environments
✔️ Electrical and mechanical fault-finding capability
✔️ Experience delivering PPM and reactive maintenance
✔️ Understanding of safe systems of work, permits, and RAMS
✔️ Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
✔️ Hands-on, proactive approach

⭐ Experience in coatings, textiles, laminating, or similar production environments
⭐ LEV / LOLER / pressure systems awareness
⭐ CI / Lean experience
