Motor Vehicle Technician – Hemel Hempstead Campus
Choice Teachers is currently seeking a reliable and skilled Motor Vehicle Technician to join a vibrant educational team at a campus in Hemel Hempstead. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanical professional looking for a better work-life balance while supporting the next generation of engineers and mechanics.
The Role
This is a hands-on, practical role where you will be the backbone of the automotive workshop. You will ensure the environment is safe, organised, and ready for students to learn.
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 08:30 – 15:00 (No Friday or weekend work!)
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Hemel Hempstead Campus
Contract: Temporary/Ongoing through Choice Teachers
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Management: General maintenance and organisation of the motor vehicle workshop.
Technical Support: Assisting teaching staff and students with practical tasks including fabrication, electrical circuits, and engine work.
Resource Management: Monitoring stock levels, ordering parts, and restocking consumables.
Health & Safety: Ensuring all machinery, including drilling equipment and vehicle lifts, are maintained and used safely.
Practical Assistance: Setting up equipment for demonstrations and helping students troubleshoot mechanical issues.
Requirements
A solid background in automotive repair or motor vehicle engineering.
Proficiency in engine mechanics, basic fabrication, and electrical circuits.
Confidence using workshop machinery (e.g., pillar drills, grinders).
A proactive "can-do" attitude and the ability to work well with both staff and students.
Must have (or be willing to undergo) an Enhanced DBS check.
