Your Role as a Residential Childcare Team Leader:
As a Team Leader, you will lead by example, guiding a team of Residential Childcare Workers in day-to-day care. You'll ensure our home operates to the highest standards, in line with the Children's Homes Regulations and safeguarding practices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead & Mentor: Guide and support a team of care workers, fostering a positive and effective staff culture.
* Direct Care & Safeguarding: Provide hands-on support, mentoring, and constant safeguarding for young people, promoting their emotional wellbeing.
* Daily Living & Development: Help young people with meal preparation, laundry, and developing independent life skills in a homely environment.
* Engage & Inspire: Lead and participate in activities, from outdoor pursuits to supporting education, building positive relationships.
* Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe home, completing risk assessments and adhering to all health and safety and Ofsted requirements.
* Teamwork & Communication: Work closely with your team, management, and external professionals like teachers and healthcare workers to ensure the best outcomes.
What We're Looking For (Person Specification):
Essential:
* A minimum of 18 months' experience as a Residential Childcare Worker, Children's Home Support Worker, or similar.
* A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
* A full, valid UK driving licence.
* A natural leader with a calm, empathetic, and reliable nature.
* Excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of safeguarding.
* The flexibility to work shifts, including sleep-in duties.
Desirable:
* Experience in outdoor activities or alternative education.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act).
* Strong coaching and motivational skills.
