We are seeking two passionate and experienced professionals to add value to our progressive and dynamic Board as Non-Executive Directors. We are looking for individuals with expertise and experience in the following sectors:

These roles are integral to our organisation and will work collectively with the Trust's Non-Executive Directors, Chair, and CEO to ensure that the Trust provides high-quality services to our patients and maintains a culture of continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is led by a Board of Directors responsible for providing leadership within a framework of prudent and effective controls, setting strategic direction, and ensuring management capacity and capability.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will monitor and manage performance, safeguard values, and ensure the organisation's obligations to its key stakeholders are met.
The Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) are accountable to the Chairman of the Trust, who also chairs the Council of Governors. The Council of Governors has specific responsibility for the appointment of NEDs.
In late summer 2024, Great Western Hospitals Foundation Trust (GWH), Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust (RUH), and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust (SFT) will form a Group.
The Group employs approximately 15,000 staff and has a combined turnover of £1.42 billion. The aim of the Group model is to improve quality and access for people within the Bath, Swindon, and Wiltshire Integrated Care System (ICS), while enhancing opportunities for staff and addressing financial challenges.
The three Trusts have been collaborating closely since 2018, and the new Group model will accelerate this collaboration, enable working at scale, and transform services for the future.

The Great Western Hospital serves Swindon and surrounding areas, with a catchment population of 233,000. The Trust provides emergency care, elective surgery, paediatrics, maternity, outpatient services, diagnostics, and end-of-life care.
Recent developments include a new Emergency Department and Children's Emergency Unit. GWH employs 5,100 staff delivering over 50 clinical services, with a turnover of £505 million. Person Specification
Qualifications
* Eligible to be a member of the NHS Foundation Trust.
* Meet independence criteria for Non-Executive Directors and the Fit and Proper Persons Requirement as per the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
Experience
* Board-level experience in a large, complex organisation.
* Experience of high accountability roles.
* Experience leading or managing cultural change.
* Experience managing major projects.
* Sufficient time availability to fulfill the role.
* Reputation for commercial expertise in private or public sectors.
