Job Vacancy An exciting time for our Sport & Leisure service which: Meets the needs of Midlothian residents to enable them to be physically active, providing a positive & safe environment & varied programme of opportunities to be active. Meets the needs of Sport & Leisure staff, providing them with a positive working environment, feeling valued, supported and with opportunities to develop. In partnership with sport scotland Midlothian Council are looking to recruit a Club Development Officer to work with the Development Team to plan, develop and deliver inclusive, innovative & exciting opportunities in physical activity and sport. The successful candidate will develop strong, sustainable, safe and inclusive sports clubs that support local communities and provide a pathway for people to participate, progress and go on to achieve in sport. We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, well organised and motivated officer with the ability to create and develop effective relationships, communicating with and directly influencing a broad spectrum of internal and external partners. This is a new role and a great opportunity to make an impact. KNOWLEDGE The job holder must be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline. Must have significant experience of working at a similar level in a Community and /or Sport & Activity related area. Must have proven project management experience. Must be able to clearly demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the aims and objectives of club development. Must have knowledge and understanding of working with and empowering volunteers in clubs. CLOSING DATE - Sunday 19th July INTERVIEW DATE - TBC – week commencing 27th July / week commencing 3 rd August Job Advert Position Title: Club & Community Development Officer Directorate: Children, Young People and Partnerships Location: Fairfield House/Hybrid Contract Status: Fixed Term for 2 years Hours of Work: 36 hours per week Working Pattern: Flexible Weeks per year: 52 Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £35,409.35 per annum. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children and adults. Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children and Adults. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you. For further information on the PVG Scheme please visit www.disclosurescotland.gov.uk Please note that Disclosure Scotland has changed the way PVG certificates are issued. You will be notified by email from Disclosure Scotland that your certificate is available to view. Once you have viewed your certificate you will be allowed to share this with your employer and it is only available for 14 days from the first day you have viewed the certificate. If you do not grant access to Midlothian Council to view before access is removed, a further application will need to be generated, and this will incur an additional cost.
