Assistant Quantity Surveyor – London
£35,000-£45,000 + Benefits
A leading contractor is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on projects based primarily in London, with occasional travel to sites across the UK and ROI.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate to gain hands-on experience across all surveying functions while working closely with experienced commercial and site teams.
Role Overview:
* Support the efficient delivery of all surveying functions on allocated projects
* Assist in maximising project profitability under the guidance of senior team members
* Liaise with Estimating, Purchasing, Contracts Managers and Project Managers on procurement of subcontract packages
* Review contract documentation, identifying key clauses including BREEAM etc.
* Assist with feasibility studies, risk analysis and subcontractor tender analysis
* Support site teams with variations, dayworks, cost control, waste management and architect instructions
* Assist with preparation and submission of subcontractor payments
* Prepare and submit valuations and cost appraisals
* Maintain accurate project records using internal systems to ensure full traceability
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams and key stakeholders
* Work in line with the company’s Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001)
* Participate in CPD, training, industry events and CSR initiatives
Requirements:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
* Previous industry experience (placement, internship or part-time site/commercial experience) is advantageous
* Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting tools
* Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with site and design teams
* Willingness to learn, develop and work towards professional accreditation
