Group Financial Controller
Burton-on-Trent (with occasional UK & International travel)
Hybrid - 3 days per week at site
Full-time | £65,000 - £75,000 + Car allowance + Benefits

We’re exclusively recruiting for a strategic, commercially astuteGroup Financial Controllerto drive transformation across a complex, multi-entity group. This is a high-impact role leading financial operations, systems implementation, and strategic business partnering - with visibility across senior leadership and operational teams.
Financial Systems & Reporting Transformation
* Lead the successful Group-wide implementation of Sage Intacct, ensuring minimal disruption to business continuity
* Design and develop real-time dashboards, automated reporting tools, and actionable KPIs across project and commercial performance
* Optimise system configuration for contract accounting, project costing and revenue recognition
Financial Control & Compliance
* Oversee the full month-end process, including WIP, deferred income, revenue recognition and accruals
* Manage quarterly and annual reporting with external partners and internal stakeholders
* Strengthen internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS
* Lead the external audit process and manage relationships with auditors and tax advisors
Team Leadership & People Development
* Lead and support a finance team of four, driving high performance, resilience and career development
* Champion cross-training, succession planning and a culture of continuous improvement
* Foster a collaborative, empowered team environment with high levels of accountability
Strategic Finance & Business Partnering
* Act as a trusted finance partner to senior leaders across operations, commercial, and project teams
* Provide financial modelling, pricing support, and bid analysis on tenders and strategic investments
* Prepare and deliver clear financial insights to the executive team, highlighting key risks and opportunities
Process Improvement & Procurement Integration
* Collaborate with procurement and commercial functions to streamline invoice approval and supplier onboarding
* Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reduce inefficiencies, and embed financial discipline across the Group
About You:
* ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with 10+ years in senior finance roles
* Strong background in project or contract accounting (engineering, industrial, construction or related sectors)
* Demonstrated success in implementing financial systems - Sage Intacct highly desirable
* Confident in cost control, audit preparation, financial compliance and reporting (UK GAAP / IFRS)
* Strategic mindset with hands-on delivery style, and a passion for developing people and process
