Job Description:
The ambient processing cluster tool is a £2.6 million interconnected glovebox system with modules for inert deposition and processing of functional materials. It is part of the Cambridge section of the Sir Henry Royce Institute and the Collaborative R&D Environment for Physics (CORDE) of the Cavendish Laboratory. Located in the Maxwell Centre on the West Cambridge site, it is a custom-built tool comprising 10 modules equipped with specific processing equipment, including evaporation systems, printing and solution processing tools, pulsed laser deposition, testing, packaging, and encapsulation tools. The facility serves as a user facility for academic and industrial users from various university departments, Royce partner universities, other UK universities, and industry.
The technician's role is to maintain, operate, and develop the ambient processing cluster tool as a research facility. This includes ensuring optimal technical performance and engaging with a diverse range of academic and industrial users to support their process development, maximizing scientific benefit and ensuring financial sustainability.
Candidates should have a degree or Level 6 vocational qualification, or equivalent practical experience, with specific expertise in functional materials deposition and processing. The position is available immediately.
We especially welcome applications from women and/or candidates from BME backgrounds, as they are underrepresented in our department.
Informal enquiries can be directed to Professor Henning Sirringhaus.
The University actively promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion and encourages applications from all societal sections.
The University is committed to ensuring all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
