Your new company
I am partnering with a great company based in Newcastle-under-Lyme who are looking for a Group Financial Controller to manage finance teams within the group and work closely with the Finance Director.
Your new role
As the Group Financial Controller, you will undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The responsibilities will also include financial risk management.
Your primary duties & responsibilities will include:
1. Overall stewardship of the Group’s accounting and regulatory compliance, including management of VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, external audit of Financial Statements, and leading projects to enhance operational efficiencies and support growth.
2. Management of all accounting operations including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Cash Management, and Revenue Recognition.
3. Coordination and direction of the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and reporting variances.
4. Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements and working with IT to design reports and processes that simplify and improve business reporting.
5. Managing finance activities that provide analysis to support business decisions related to improving service levels, efficiency, and customer service via streamlining processes and cost savings projects (LEAN/Continuous Improvement).
6. Holding teams, including site and global leadership, accountable for actions to mitigate risks or realize opportunities.
7. Coordinating the preparation of regulatory reporting.
8. Researching technical accounting issues for compliance.
9. Supporting the month-end and year-end close processes.
10. Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and reporting, and continually reviewing financial processes for current best practices and business needs.
11. Interacting with and providing data to support decision-making or escalating issues to Senior Director.
12. Managing statutory reporting requirements and tax filings with HMRC.
13. Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
14. Establishing seamless internal relationships.
What you'll need to succeed
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller.
* 5+ years of comprehensive accounting and finance experience.
* Professionally qualified ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate, collaborate, and work well under pressure.
* Effective communication skills for complex financial information.
* Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
* Experience with creating financial statements.
* Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end closing processes.
* Excellent accounting software skills and administration.
* Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
