Project Manager - £50,000 - On Site
Adept is recruiting a Project Manager for an engineering business delivering complex, mechanically led engineering projects. This role is hands on and delivery focused, sitting across R&D, pilot-scale development and production ramp up, and will suit someone with a strong mechanical engineering background who can translate technical detail into executable project plans.
This is an on site role, in Rotherham, for a Project Manager who is comfortable in engineering environments, close to the kit, the data and the decisions.
The Role
This is a delivery-led Project Manager role in a technically complex, industrial environment. You'll take ownership of projects end to end, from early-stage development through to pilot-scale execution and production ramp-up.
You'll be expected to:
* Lead multiple concurrent projects across R&D, pilot plant activity and manufacturing scale-up
* Own scope, schedule, budget, risk and quality, and keep projects moving when priorities shift
* Work closely with mechanical engineers, process engineers, manufacturing and supply chain teams
* Act as the link between technical teams and senior leadership, turning engineering reality into clear plans and decisions
* Drive governance, reporting and stakeholder communication at senior and executive level
* Manage change, dependencies and trade-offs in a fast-growing business
* Improve how projects are run; tools, structure, cadence and discipline
What We're Looking For
You're an experienced Project Manager who understands engineering
You'll likely bring:
* Proven experience delivering complex engineering or manufacturing projects
* A mechanical engineering degree (or equivalent background), giving you credibility with technical teams
* Experience operating in environments where things are still being built, refined and scaled
* The ability to manage ambiguity and make progress without perfect information
* Strong stakeholder management skills, from shop floor through to senior leadership
* Solid planning, risk management and financial control capability
* Clear communication, confidence and the ability to drive accountability
Backgrounds in industrial plant, process development, materials or heavy engineering are particularly relevant but strong project managers with transferable experience and the right mindset will be considered.
