Overview

At Epsom & Ewell, we aspire to deliver high quality services to our residents. We might be small, but we have big plans to serve our population of 80,000 residents. We are investing in our future, increasing strategic capacity and exploring new ways of working. This new role will be crucial to delivering our vision, driving forward key deliverables from our Four Year and Recovery Plans, and supporting our residents who are at risk of rough sleeping.


Responsibilities

* Interview, assess and issue Personal Housing Plans in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
* Provide intensive outreach support while clients are in interim or emergency accommodation.
* Assist clients to proactively find and secure move‑on accommodation, including supported or private rented options, and manage their Rent Deposit Scheme where appropriate.
* Provide ongoing tenancy sustainment and support in new accommodation.
* Develop strong relationships and work in partnership with local agencies to maximise available housing options.
* Liaise with landlords and third parties, using negotiation skills to resolve issues that impact client situations.
* Use mediation and coaching skills to build positive rapport with clients, motivating them to take responsibility for their own circumstances.
* Work collaboratively in a busy and varied environment, demonstrating innovation, resourcefulness, and customer‑focus.


Qualifications

* Experience working in a similar role within a Local Housing Authority.
* Good understanding of the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Act 2002, Localism Act 2011, and related legislation.
* Previous front‑line interviewing experience in a demanding housing environment.
* Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and person‑skills.
* A customer‑focused, empathetic, and creative approach to service delivery.
