Applications are invited for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals to join our friendly and dynamic team within the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department at Colchester Hospital, part of East Suffolk & North Essex Foundation NHS Trust.
The post will be based primarily at Colchester Hospital in the Dame Clare Marx building for the Essex & Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre (ESEOC). The centre provides eight elective orthopaedic theatres and three elective wards.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the orthopaedic team in routine clinical care.
* Attend out‑of‑hours rota and participate in elective and trauma lists.
* Provide bedside care for ward patients and manage admissions for orthopaedic emergencies.
* Attend the operating theatre for trauma and elective procedures.
* Supervise junior staff and contribute to a regular teaching programme.
* Participate in weekly multidisciplinary meetings and monthly audit meetings.
* Engage in clinical research and audit initiatives.
* Contribute to the department’s full shift rota as required.
Clinical Duties
* Care of ward patients and all aspects of elective orthopaedic trauma.
* Admission and primary care of orthopaedic emergencies.
* Assessment and surgical planning for trauma and elective lists.
