Hello! Thanks for stopping by. Yorkshire Water is recruiting for Process Operators to join the Process team. The roles cover sites in and around the York, Malton and Pickering areas. Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance of the above areas.
Location: We currently have opportunities for Process Operators to join the Process team at Yorkshire Water.
Work type: Permanent. You’ll be working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday within a 07.00 to 18.00 working window. Out of hours, weekend working, and bank holidays will be worked as part of a structured pattern. After training, you may be on standby for out-of-hours, evenings, weekends and overnight callouts, with notice of when you are on call. Some weekend work and flexible hours are required.

Your role
As a Process Operator, you will work as part of an operational team to deliver strong performance against targets, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive customer confidence and satisfaction. You will undertake reactive and proactive site visits to ensure critical assets meet regulatory compliance and protect the environment and customers.
You will take personal responsibility for health and safety, follow Yorkshire Water’s policies, and perform basic grounds maintenance, site tasks, and housekeeping duties.
Your duties will include:
* Reacting to RTS alarms and pollution incidents
* Gathering evidence at suspected pollution incidents
* Lifting, checking, and unblocking pumps
* Taking samples, examining results, and troubleshooting issues
* Raising follow-on work for internal support services
What skills, experience and training you will need
* Full training on mandatory courses will be provided; a company van, tools, equipment, Toughbook, mobile phone, sat nav and corporate clothing will be provided.
* A practical mindset, enjoy working outdoors in all weathers, and a hands-on approach to tasks.
* Ability to work alone and as part of a team in all weathers; be a resilient self-starter with good time management and workload handling.
* Willingness to question unsafe practices and report them to management.
* Good problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and positive attitude and behaviours.
* Previous experience with IT systems (e.g., Word) is essential for capturing site information on a Toughbook.
* A full valid UK driving licence is required (no more than 6 points).
This role has occasional work in confined spaces; successful completion of a medical by our Occupational Health Department and relevant training is essential. The candidate must pass medical criteria including BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing and Spirometry tests.
