The opportunity

Are you a guru of graphic design digital tools and software? Do you want to take students on a technical learning journey, giving them the employment skills, software insights and expertise to augment and support their theoretical, analytical and creative development? Do you know a wide variety of Adobe software (from layout/page design (InDesign), through augmented reality (Aero) to video editing and motion graphics (Premiere Pro & After Effects)?

Do you also have experience of Figma (collaborative digital white board and interface design), 3D modelling, portfolio builders, VR engines and using AI? Could you craft workshops and sessions for students on BA & MA graphic design courses to introduce, upskill and familiarise them with software to meet project outcomes? Then this opportunity is for you.

The technical team at Camberwell College of Arts (part of CCW), University of the Arts London (UAL) is seeking a Learning & Teaching technician to plan, create and deliver student learning, along with formal training and instruction.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, collaborative and adaptable, working with academic colleagues to plan workshop sessions, supervise learning activities, who provides expert guidance and can help students diagnose and resolve creative and artistic challenges to meet their learning outcomes.

Technicians are an integral part of the realisation of students’ work: their knowledge and experience enable students to experiment and learn about traditional making techniques and how they relate to inform today’s methods, processes and practices of communication.

About you

You’ll need a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, or equivalent industry experience. Knowledge of working in Higher Education is vital, and how technical teaching and instruction is embedded into students’ learning journeys.

A wide variety of in-depth software knowledge is essential, and you need to be able to guide different audiences and skill levels through these, to achieve outcomes, objectives and outputs.

It would also be desirable for you to have experience working with laser printers, scanners, 3D printers, RISO printers, screen printing, transfer printing, bookbinding and book arts, as you may also support students working with these techniques in our maker spaces and studios.

You should possess effective and adaptable communication skills, a good working knowledge of IT packages and the ability to manage calendars, planning tools and engage in effective timetabling.

Please note – this role is for three days/21 hours a week, and we anticipate needing someone to work on Thursdays and Fridays (due to planned/scheduled teaching delivery). The third day could be flexible or agreed to fit operational needs (and the successful candidate’s obligations/responsibilities).

Closing date: 17th August 2025, 23:55.

If you have any queries about the application process or need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact jobs.ccw@arts.ac.uk
