Girlguiding South West England is made up of 16 Counties and Islands. It is the leading charity for girls and young women across South West England. It has a membership of over 55,000 members of which just over 11,000 are adult members and the remaining 44,000 are girls and young women: Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers.

We are hiring for a new Social Media Officer who will join our Marketing and Communications team, based at our Region office in Salisbury, to provide planned and effective marketing campaigns. You will be primarily responsible for our social media channels.

Overall Purpose of the Job:

As part of the Region team you will:

· Work with the Marketing and Communications team to provide planned and effective marketing campaigns across all social media and communications platforms as required.

· Be responsible for the region's social media.

· Provide PR support to the senior volunteers across the region.

· Provide support to the Marketing and Communications Officer as required.

· Support the Communications and Engagement Manager with activities required to achieve the region external engagement strategy including providing support with external engagement events.

· Monitor press coverage for the region and take any necessary follow up action.

· Undertake photographic and film assignments as required.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

Communications

· Pro-active liaison with the chief commissioner team and region lead volunteer for Communications and PR.

· Provide support to the Communications and Engagement Manager with monitoring press coverage for the region and taking any necessarily follow up action.

· Deliver PR and social media training to volunteer groups within the region as required.

· Regular liaison with the county and island PR teams and volunteers, including providing updates from Girlguiding. Ensure the mailing lists are kept up to date when roles change.

Social Media

· Write copy and create graphics for social media posts ensuring we meet Girlguiding requirements and brand guidelines.

· Create impactful social media campaigns.

· Consistently grow social media audiences.

· Collate statistics, monitor trends/activity to feed into a quarterly report for our Trustee Board.

· Proactively explore/develop other social media platforms appropriate for our audience.

Photography and videography

· Create and edit videos for the region's social media pages, as well as for marketing and promotional materials.

· Take and edit still photographs and videos of region events, activities and conferences as required.

· Ensure that all images and supporting documentation are stored in accordance with Girlguiding GDPR regulations.

General:

1. To ensure the well-being of the volunteer in all activities for Girlguiding South West England.

2. To conduct all activities in a manner which promotes and enhances the image and reputation of Girlguiding South West England.

3. To carry out such other duties not detailed above but as directed by the Executive Manager that may reasonably be required from time to time to ensure the smooth operation of Guiding in South West England and delivery of the Region's Strategic Plan. This will include being flexible in the hours worked in the day to day running of the office; always ensuring a prompt and courteous response to all enquiries; and maintaining confidentiality on all matters at all times.

4. To assist in the organisation and running of Girlguiding South West England activities, challenges and events including Region conferences and special events. This may include some travel.

5. To be prepared to work occasional Saturdays/Sundays and be prepared to work flexibly during the working week in support of Girlguiding South West England meetings and events. The job holder will be entitled to take Time-off-in Lieu (TOIL) for weekend and

Pay: £26,000.00 per year
