Job summary Older People's Medicine & Neuroscience Healthcare Support Worker Recruitment Event 30th January 2026 Older People's Medicine delivers comprehensive, person-centred care for older adults, particularly those living with frailty, complex multimorbidity, and acute long-term conditions. There is 4 dedicated wards specifically resourced to assess and manage patients identified as frail, providing holistic assessment, proactive management of medical and functional needs, and tailored rehabilitation. Neurosciences provide specialized, rapid response care for patients with serious neurological conditions. This includes 24/7 assessment and treatment for emergencies such as stroke, seizures, severe headaches, spinal cord injuries, central nervous system infections and acute neurological deterioration. Main duties of the job Your role as a HCSW will be to provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal care to each patient working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary approach. This includes assisting with personal care, nutrition, wound care, mobility, and infection control, as well as monitoring and recording vital signs, supporting patients with toileting and hygiene needs, and maintaining accurate documentation. In completion of the nationally recognised care certificate qualification, you will develop knowledge and skills that will allow you to be able to safely and accurately deliver effective patient care under the direction of the registered nurse. With ongoing training, you will learn to accurately document the care you provide and recognise when a patient's condition changes, escalating concerns appropriately while maintaining patient confidentiality. Your skills and competencies will be developed through a structured 52-week development pathway designed to support you in fulfilling your role.
