Legal Counsel – Wealth Lending & Banking | International Investment Bank
I’m currently working with a leading international investment bank looking to hire a Legal Counsel to join their Wealth Banking & Lending Legal team.
This role offers exposure to a broad range of lending and banking products within a sophisticated global wealth platform, working closely with business teams, risk, compliance, and senior legal stakeholders.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will support the bank’s wealth lending and banking businesses, providing legal advice on transaction structuring, regulatory matters, and product development. The role sits within a global legal function and involves working on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal support across wealth lending transactions from inception to completion, including structuring, negotiation, and documentation
Advise on a broad range of wealth lending products including residential real estate, commercial real estate, aircraft finance, art finance and subscription credit facilities
Support legal matters relating to banking services, including custody, payments, client assets and digital assets
Provide advice on UK regulatory frameworks impacting lending and banking products (e.g. Consumer Credit Act, regulated mortgages, payment regulations)
Work closely with business, risk, compliance and client service teams across the organisation
Liaise with and manage external counsel on transactions and regulatory matters
Assist with product programme reviews, documentation updates and regulatory implementation
Collaborate with global legal teams to support international product launches and service offerings
Candidate Profile
Ideally 2–4 years PQE (flexible for strong candidates with relevant experience)
Experience in financial services regulation, lending, or banking products gained in private practice or in-house
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with client disclosure and regulatory documentation
Exposure to FCA regulation or equivalent regulatory regimes is beneficial
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex regulatory issues into practical advice
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international and collaborative environment
