We are recruiting for a Library Assistant to work within the NHS Forth Valley Library Service. The post holder will primarily be based in the library at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and will be responsible for the smooth day‑to‑day running of the library, providing practical and administrative support and carrying out a range of duties in response to the needs of the service. This will include staffing the library front desk and supporting library patrons to make effective use of the service and available resources, overseeing circulation of stock, answering email and telephone enquiries, and supporting with promotional activities including developing and updating displays in the library.
Responsibilities:
* Staff the library front desk and provide patrons with effective support.
* Oversee circulation of stock and manage library resources.
* Respond to email and telephone enquiries.
* Support promotional activities, including developing and updating library display displays.
Qualifications:
* Demonstrable experience in a relevant setting, or a library/information/knowledge related qualification, or CILIP certification/chartership.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* IT skills including experience of using Microsoft Office packages.
* Understanding of copyright, data protection issues and good organisational skills.
* Ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
* Interest in and awareness of current trends in the wider library/information field and previous experience of using a Library Management System would be advantageous.

The Library Service sits within Medical Education. We are a friendly, supportive team and appropriate training and development opportunities will be provided to the successful candidate.
The duties of this post require the successful candidate to complete a Level 2 Disclosure Scotland check.
