About the Role: TeacherActive is proud to be supporting a rapidly improving secondary academy in South West Birmingham in recruiting for a Non-Teaching Head of Year.

A medium-sized, inclusive 11-16 academy with a diverse and vibrant student community.
The school places a strong emphasis on pastoral care, respect and high expectations, with staff and students alike proud of the significant progress made in recent years.
As part of a well-established pastoral team, you will play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, attendance, and behaviour of students, ensuring they are nurtured, challenged and fully supported to thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading the pastoral care and behaviour support for a specific year group
* Building strong, positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies
* Monitoring attendance, behaviour and academic progress to ensure students are supported effectively
* Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff to deliver high standards of care and guidance
* Contributing to the wider school community and ethos

* Experience of working with young people in a pastoral or similar role within an educational setting
* A strong understanding of pastoral issues and safeguarding responsibilities
* Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
* A positive, solution-focused approach and the ability to build trust and respect
* A genuine commitment to supporting the personal and academic development of young people
