We are looking for a self-motivated, organised and methodical Clinical Research Communications and Digital Senior Administrator to join the Sutton based R&D Development Core Services.
This role primarily focuses on managing and maintaining the online presence of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre and CRF. This role will create content to promote research activities and build public and patient engagement and involvement. Key responsibilities include digital communications and administration tasks and the supporting of events and ideally experience of writing content with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
The successful applicant should have a flexible approach to their duties and have ability to work both as part of the team as well as independently and be a strong confident senior administrator.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will manage and maintain the online presence of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre and CRF including webpages and social media channels, in addition to contributing to the research webpages on the main websites of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and The Institute of Cancer Research, oversight of Cancer Patients’ Voice digital platform. This role will create content to promote research activities, outputs and impact to internal and external stakeholders. The online content will build public and patient engagement with our research and make sure information reaches our target audiences. The post-holder will also support with writing regular communications for the Clinical Research Directorate
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Manage, write and optimise the content of the NIHR BRC and CRF websites and social media channels. This will include:
1. Update website content on a regular basis ensuring it remains relevant and up to date, working with relevant stakeholders. Work with the Trust Digital Manager and Head of Digital to develop new web pages to highlight key infrastructure.
2. Drive awareness of key research breakthroughs to trigger timely content development that drives the thought leadership agenda. Develop strong professional relationships with clinical and research staff.
3. Amend and repurpose press releases published to the main websites of The Royal Marsden and the ICR to include on the NIHR BRC website, in addition to drafting independent news articles.
4. Develop content for impactful BRC and CRF social media campaigns working closely with The Royal Marsden Social Media Manager.

9. Experience writing content with the ability to translate scientific information for a lay audience and to tailor messages to different audiences
10. Experience of planning, producing and publishing content across digital channels, including working with content management systems and social media channels.
11. Experience of working effectively in a cross matrix, complex organisation.
12. Experience of working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Desirable criteria
13. Experience in working in a science, academic or a research-focused NHS environment.
14. Experience in organising public events, seminars, interviews, conferences and workshops to drive engagement.

16. Good technical understanding with the ability to pick up new tools quickly.
17. Strong written accuracy, editorial and proof-reading skills and great attention to detail.

19. Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate liaison with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including experienced scientists and clinicians.
20. Highly organised, with strong planning skills and the ability to prioritise own workload.

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff
At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
