We are seeking an experienced, dynamic Biomedical Scientist Manager with experience of management in laboratory sciences to lead our Blood Sciences team in our laboratory at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

Main duties of the job

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Working as part of a 3 site directorate delivering 24/7 Blood Sciences Services you will lead service delivery, performance and development on our 'West' site whilst working closely with our East and West site managers, service leads, senior scientists and Quality & Governance team to continue our ongoing modernization and continuous service improvement.

Person Specification


Qualifications and/or Knowledge

* HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist with Masters Degree or equivalent experience
* Significant relevant experience in a managerial post
* Up to date in all current issues related to blood sciences practice
* Leadership training or equivalent experience
* Teaching or coaching qualification


Experience

* Multi-professional problem solving in teams
* Strategy and policy development
* Developing and delivering operational laboratory services
* Ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with all professional disciplines
* Budget Management


Aptitude and Abilities

* Knowledge of staff management processes
* Ability to prioritise and work within agree timescales
* Sound political judgement and thorough understanding of working with complex policy and diverse interest groups;
* Successful project management


Other

* Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create the conditions for successful partnership working
* A good understanding of the changing NHS environment. Financial Management.
* Ability to be intellectually flexible and to look beyond existing structures, ways of working, boundaries and organisations to produce more effective and innovative service delivery and partnerships;
* Welsh speaking
