About The Role
We require a Mechanical Engineer to support one of the projects SNM-AP. The Nuclear Decommissioning Authorities (NDA) Programme and Project Partners (PPP) contract model, allows the skills and expertise of both Sellafield Ltd and their Lot Partners to be combined to deliver a step change in major project delivery.
The Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) Future State Programme is one of the most complex challenges facing the NDA in dealing with the UK’s nuclear legacy is managing the stockpile of separated civil plutonium
Requirements
1. Production of mechanical engineering deliverables in accordance with lead mechanical engineers requirements.
2. Deliver a safe fit for purpose, fully integrated and operable engineering solution that meets product requirements.
3. Produce engineering deliverables that provide a fit for purpose integrated solution which meets specified requirements, including validation and verification, and that preserve the engineering intent and align with the plant configuration as appropriate.
4. Identify any changes to engineering and inform the wider team, in particular the Responsible Engineer and the Project Engineering Manager.
5. Identify any functional technical, safety and engineering risks and inform the Responsible Engineer.
6. Ensure that the engineering solution is able to be manufactured, constructed, commissioned, handed over, put into operation, maintained, and decommissioned.
7. Develop and carry out work in line with the Sellafield Project Fundamentals.
8. Ensure solutions meet all discipline related legal requirements including CDM, safety, including the application of Engineering Design Safety Principles, security, environmental and Sellafield Site Licence conditions, and that deliverables and solutions generated are adequately underpinned.
9. Ensure understanding and application of relevant legislation including SL and project specific policies, procedures, and standards.
10. Support the Responsible Engineer in derivation of the requirements and capabilities for Areas, Systems and Products along with the associated conditions, constraints and validation.
11. Support the Responsible Engineer in the definition and execution of product verification activities.
12. Support in the development and updating of cost and time estimates for delivery of the engineering solution where required.
Essential:
13. Qualified Mechanical Engineer.
14. Relevant experience, this would typically be at least 4 years in relevant project design office, is required to fully perform the role.
15. Ability to work in a team environment and will be required to work form the Hinton House office for a minimum of 3 days a week fully embedded with the team.
Preferred:
16. Professionally qualified (e.g Chartered) Engineer.
17. Experience in contracting environment.
18. Relevant site experience.
