Overview

Responsibilities
The appointed solicitor will represent clients across a broad range of criminal matters, including police station attendance, Magistrates' Court and Crown Court proceedings. Duties include giving clear legal advice, advocacy, and case preparation; managing correspondence, negotiations, time recording and billing; ensuring Legal Aid Agency compliance; staying up to date with legal developments; and undertaking supervision duties or out‑of‑hours work where required.
Qualifications
Applications are open to qualified legal professionals with strong communication, problem‑solving and prioritisation skills, and a high level of IT proficiency. Experience using the Legal Aid Portal, funding procedures, privately funded work, Police Station Accreditation and Duty Solicitor status is advantageous.
