Clinical Pharmacist (Nights) position is available at Boston Medical Center in Brighton, MA. This is a full-time role with a schedule of 7 days on/7 days off, 10-hour night shifts, including rotating holidays and weekends. The position offers 70 hours per pay period, compensated for 80 hours.
Job Summary
* Supervise the filling and dispensing of medication orders, ensuring proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs.
* Provide clinical services and drug information to physicians, residents, and nurses to ensure appropriate drug usage.
* Participate in training pharmacy technicians and co-op students.
* Engage in quality improvement projects related to pharmacy.
* Work independently under general supervision within established pharmacy policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience:
* Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from an accredited college, with 2-5 years hospital pharmacy experience.
* PGY1 residency preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
* Effective communication skills for sharing information with healthcare professionals and patients.
* Administrative skills for coordinating pharmacy operations and personnel.
* Teaching skills for pharmacy student preceptorship.
* Analytic and critical thinking skills for patient assessment and drug therapy planning.
Licensure and Certification:
* Current Massachusetts pharmacist registration required.
* Training in Aseptic Technique, TPN Compounding, and Cytotoxic Drug Handling preferred.
Responsibilities
* Consult with physicians and nurses on drug therapy.
* Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns responsible for medication dispensing and inventory.
* Participate in patient rounds, providing pharmacotherapy input.
* Assist in hiring, training, and orientation of new staff.
* Collaborate on departmental and interdepartmental committees.
* Interview patients for medical histories and medication reviews.
* Support investigational drug studies and maintain related records.
* Prepare drug monographs and review formulary additions.
* Assist with drug cost management.
* Serve as a preceptor and conduct educational sessions for staff and students.
* Help develop and update pharmacy policies and procedures.
