Spire Healthcare was founded from the acquisition and rebranding of 25 Bupa hospitals in 2007 - this included Spire Hull & East Riding Hospital. Substantial capital investment in the organisational infrastructure has led to our current standing as a very successful, FTSE 250 business. Spire Little Aston, based in Sutton Coldfield, just outside Birmingham City Centre, is a thriving and extremely busy hospital, with a large number of exciting projects planned for 2024. The hospital is expanding the scope of services offered to our patients and, taking a lead on becoming carbon neutral by 2030. all patients, consultants, NHS partners, staff and visitors. The hospital has an exceptional reputation within a variety of specialties including Orthopaedics, Sports & Exercise Medicine, Cosmetics, Ophthalmic, Gynaecology, General Surgery & Physiotherapy.
The Hospital is dedicated to providing quality treatment and aftercare to our patients. This means ongoing investment in our facilities and our staff. We also have a dedicated Bone & Joint Clinic with leading orthopaedic consultants, Breast Care Centre and Spire Eye Centre.
As a group, Spire Healthcare was announced as winner of the ‘Best Workplace for Learning and Development - Over 1,500 Nursing Staff category’ at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit & Awards 2021. The award recognised the introduction of a whole range of learning and development initiatives for clinical and non-clinical colleagues, including Spire’s new nurse apprenticeship programme.2023, provided treatment for more than 114,000 in-patients. Services include: diagnostics, inpatient, day case and outpatient care in areas including orthopaedics, gynaecology, cardiology, neurology, oncology and general surgery.

Following the promotion of the current incumbent, we seek to appoint to this enviable role within the Hospital. The Operations Director is a key member of the Hospital’s local Senior Management Team and instrumental in delivering the Annual Operating Plan, in line with the strategy for the Hospital. With a solid senior management team, committed local workforce and sound relationships with our consultants and local NHS partners, you can enjoy a varied and exciting role that includes:
* Managing the capacity of the Hospital to maximise the throughput of patients and utilisation of all facilities in line with safe standards of care
* Leading all non-clinical services and colleagues within the Hospital through their Heads of Departments, to build highly engaged teams who provide efficient and consistent ways of working in line with the Spire Healthcare one best way
* Managing the day to day operational performance of the Hospital to deliver the financial targets and key performance indicators
* Overseeing the risk management process, fostering a culture of open reporting and learning to improve patient care

To be successful in this role you will need to offer:
* Substantial business operations leadership experience, having spent time in a similar role within the heath and care related sectors, or, comparable experience within a similarly complex and regulated environment
* Proven success in leading and delivering complex business change and capital investment projects
* Naturally engaging leadership skills that promote effective team working
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills able to build momentum that delivers continuous professional & service improvement, whilst operating successfully within a complex, matrix and multi-stakeholder environment.
