Laboratory Programme Manager – Fugro

Location: UK (office-based laboratory environment, with hybrid flexibility)
Working pattern: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Are you ready to play a key role in delivering high-impact geotechnical insights that shape major infrastructure and energy projects? At Fugro, our laboratories are at the heart of what we do—transforming data into knowledge that supports safer, more sustainable developments worldwide. As a Laboratory Programme Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind complex testing programmes, connecting technical teams, clients, and project stakeholders to keep everything moving smoothly. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership, influence outcomes, and grow your career in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.

What you’ll do

As a Laboratory Programme Manager, you’ll oversee and coordinate laboratory testing programmes for complex projects, ensuring results are delivered on time, to specification, and within budget. Reporting to a Senior Laboratory Programme Manager, you’ll act as the key link between clients, project teams, and laboratory specialists—keeping communication clear, progress on track, and quality at the forefront. Your work directly supports decision-making on major engineering and environmental projects, contributing to Fugro’s mission of creating a safe and sustainable world.

Your role and responsibilities

1. Develop and manage laboratory testing schedules, ensuring all project requirements are clearly defined and delivered on time
2. Act as the primary point of contact for clients and internal teams on complex projects, building strong, trusted relationships
3. Monitor testing progress and proactively address risks, delays, or changes to maintain delivery targets
4. Coordinate information flow between laboratory teams and project stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely communication
5. Support financial and contractual processes, including budget tracking and revenue recognition
6. Drive continuous improvement by monitoring laboratory utilisation and supporting process and system enhancements
7. Champion quality, safety, and compliance, promoting QA/QC best practices and adherence to Fugro’s QHSSE standards

What you’ll need to thrive in this role

We’re looking for people who are organised, collaborative, and passionate about delivering results. If you don’t meet every requirement but feel excited about the role, we encourage you to apply.

Essential:

8. Degree (or equivalent) in project/programme management, geotechnical, civil engineering, or a related field
9. Experience in project or programme management (typically 3–8 years) within a technical or engineering environment
10. Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
11. Commercial awareness, with the ability to monitor budgets and contribute to financial performance
12. Confident using project management and standard office software tools

Desirable:

13. Experience working within laboratory, geotechnical, or testing environments
14. Familiarity with QA/QC processes and accredited laboratory standards
