Sharp Consultancy are delighted to be partnering with a modern, forward-thinking accountancy practice based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, in their search for an Assistant Accountant. This newly created role has emerged from growing business demand and will report directly to the Managing Partner, supporting a team of talented, up-and-coming Managers.
For over a decade, the firm has built a strong reputation around values of community, togetherness, and enterprise. Charity work is central to their ethos, with regular volunteer days and partnerships with local schools. Their client base ranges from local sole traders to multi-million turnover businesses (up to £70mn), offering real variety and exposure across general practice.
The ideal candidate will have experience in an accountancy practice and a hands-on approach to bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and tax processes across a diverse client portfolio.
Benefits
* Salary between £25,000 - £30,000
* Hybrid and Flexible working
* 25 days AL + 8 BH
* 5% Employer pension contribution
Duties and responsibilities
* Process client invoices and perform bank reconciliations
* Support with client book-keeping services
* Maintain accurate financial records for a diverse client portfolio
* Assist with the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
* Assist with the maintenance of personal and corporate tax compliance
* Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts and financial statements
* Provide support to clients directly over the phone and via email as and when required in the role
Person Specification
* AAT Studier / AAT Qualified or Qualified by Experience
* Previous experience of working within accountancy practice (Essential)
