Overview: The post holder will provide support to the Delivery Suite team carrying out delegated tasks involving equipment and stock maintenance and ordering. This includes maintaining clinical equipment service logs, arranging testing for clinical and electrical equipment, evaluating new equipment and ensuring the process is followed for equipment repairs. They will also be responsible for ordering clinical consumables for the department, ensuring stock levels are maintained and rotated.

Job Responsibilities
Managerial

Roles and Responsibilities
* Undertakes specific skills such as checking and ensuring the clinical equipment is ready for use when required in the delivery suite, following appropriate training and instruction from the Registered Midwife/Nurse or Clinical Engineering of the Manufacturer.
* Records service histories and updates equipment service logs. Ensures all equipment undergoes required services, arranges PAC testing of all electrical equipment, maintains a log and liaises with clinical engineering.
* Assists with evaluation of new equipment with clinical engineering and clinical staff.
* Reports/sends all broken equipment to relevant departments, maintains the equipment log, and follows up on equipment in repair to ensure it is back in use or replaced as soon as possible.
* Orders all consumables across Delivery Suite, monitors deliveries, and follows up on undelivered items.
* Maintains stock control of all consumables, ensures stock rotation, and orders ward and community stocks from NHS supplies and non-stock items; maintains stock levels and a non-stock item file for emergencies.
* Ensures consumables are within expiry date and safe to use.
* Communicates with the wider multi-disciplinary team and clinical staff regarding orders of supplies and equipment concerns.
* Receives and conveys information to senior staff regarding stock management and equipment checks.
* Spot checks equipment in clinical areas to ensure readiness for use and cleanliness, with appropriate cleaning tags attached.
* Ensures all stock/equipment is stored in accordance with infection control/fire regulations.
* Proficiently uses the procurement ordering system for clinical and non-clinical equipment and supplies.
* Condemns equipment that is not repairable and completes relevant documentation.
* Liaises with area leads/managers to escalate any safety issues, maintenance concerns or supply issues.
* With support from senior midwives, prepares information for periodic stock level audits.
Teaching and Training
Under the supervision of a midwife, assists in the mentorship, support, training and development of junior colleagues.
Planning and Organisational Skills
* Acts as a completer-finisher; works to deadlines and delivers agreed objectives.
* Responds appropriately to unexpected events to maintain service delivery.
Other Responsibilities
* Aware that the role includes exposure to biohazards and other potentially unpleasant materials, and takes responsibility for protecting themselves and others by implementing universal precautions and using employer-supplied protective equipment/materials.

Person Specification
* English and Maths GCSE or NVQ 3 or equivalent
* Experience of working in ordering, stock control and undertaking safety checks on equipment
