Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the management of overall site operations and achieving operational KPIs efficiently to meet company budgets and growth projections.
The role involves leading and managing site operational teams to ensure standards and service levels are maintained across all responsibilities.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, between 06:00-18:00
Key Duties of an Operations Manager:
1. Manage operation performance and colleagues to ensure efficiency, legal compliance, and budget adherence.
2. Ensure the transport fleet and assets are operated commercially and effectively.
3. Oversee warehouse operations for efficiency and compliance.
4. Review daily KPIs and perform forward planning to optimize costs and service levels.
5. Ensure operations comply with health and safety policies and legal standards.
6. Implement H&S initiatives and promote SHEQ standards to reduce damages and incidents.
7. Manage fleet requirements and driver staffing, including shift patterns.
8. Develop recruitment, training, and succession plans to retain talent.
9. Continuously review operations to reduce costs and maximize revenue and profits.
10. Calculate rates for new business in collaboration with senior management.
11. Ensure legal compliance and adapt to legislative changes.
12. Promote continuous improvement in communication, damage reduction, and driving efficiency.
13. Oversee tachograph compliance and disciplinary procedures as needed.
14. Lead driver attraction, retention, and return initiatives.
15. Manage performance reviews and disciplinary actions with HR support.
Qualifications:
1. Experience in transport and warehouse within an FMCG environment.
2. Proven leadership and team motivation skills.
3. Understanding of warehouse and transport planning systems.
4. Knowledge of FMCG industry principles, costs, and benefits.
5. Experience in commercial and change management.
6. Familiarity with supply chain requirements of major retailers.
7. Experience with consolidation and loading operations in FMCG.
8. Knowledge of continuous improvement practices.
9. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
10. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
