Job Overview
South Lanarkshire Council Social Work Department’s Emergency Social Work Service (ESWS) is looking for Team Leaders to manage shift delivery and oversight of services. This is a full‑time, permanent role working 35 hours per week, with a flexible work pattern to be discussed at interview.
Location: Pollock Avenue, Hamilton
Salary: £57,283 – £58,104 per annum
Accountabilities
The role requires leading over a three‑week shift rota, including weekends and public holidays. Team Leaders will make real‑time decisions in an out‑of‑hours environment, manage social work assistants, supervise senior management on‑call duties, and maintain links with daytime social work services. The position demands strong partnership working with police, health, and other agencies.
Responsibilities
* Make day‑to‑day decisions during out‑of‑hours referrals, ensuring service responsiveness.
* Provide line management and supervise performance of social work assistants.
* Support senior management on‑call responsibilities (01.45–08.45 weekdays, 01.45–07.45 weekends).
* Ensure strong links between Emergency Social Work and locality social work offices.
* Facilitate timely recruitment checks and assist recruitment team when required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered with the SSSC and holding a degree/diploma in Social Work.
* Demonstrated leadership and team management experience in social work.
* Experience in the public protection arena and statutory social work service delivery.
* Ability to prioritise work and manage a small team effectively.
* Full UK driving licence.
