The role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This opportunity will involve working as a Mechanical Engineer as part of a JV team on the Nuclear Technical Support Provider (NTSP) framework. This seven-year framework, with the option of a further three years, will deliver specialist nuclear technical services valued between £-million to £-million to support DIO, Navy Command and other MOD organisations.
The framework will support the Clyde Infrastructure Programme (CIP) and wider Royal Navy and defence requirements. Its primary focus will be on delivering the refurbishment and upgrade of critical infrastructure at HMNB Clyde.
Day-to-day, you’ll be involved in supporting design activities, preparing technical documentation, and contributing to CAD modelling and analysis. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure engineering solutions meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You’ll also assist in project planning, engage with clients and stakeholders, and have opportunities to develop your skills while contributing to innovative solutions in the nuclear sector.
Key accountabilities:
1. Collaborate effectively with engineering and cross-functional teams to support smooth project execution.
2. Contribute to customer engagement by assisting in technical discussions, helping resolve engineering challenges, and ensuring clear communication of progress.
3. Apply relevant procedures, codes, and industry standards to all engineering and technical activities.
4. Participate in project safety assessments, supporting a strong safety culture and compliance with regulatory requirements.
5. Assist in the production and review of engineering deliverables, including calculations, analyses, drawings, models, and technical documentation.
6. Help maintain engineering configuration control, ensuring the design intent and integrity are upheld throughout the project lifecycle.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer
7. Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams to support the delivery of engineering solutions across a range of project types.
8. Experience in handling a variety of engineering tasks, demonstrating adaptability across different levels of complexity.
9. Clear and confident communication skills, with the capability to collaborate across disciplines and engage with clients and stakeholders.

10. Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification
