In accordance with Agency goals, manages volunteer activities. Recruits, screens, orients, trains and places volunteers. Coordinates the planning and delivery of volunteer services within the Agency and with community groups. Duties/Responsibilities: Recruits, screens, orients, trains, assigns, supervises and evaluates Hospice and Pediatric Palliative Care volunteers. Maintains volunteer activities records, including job descriptions, documentation of volunteer hours provided and related cost effectiveness. Develops volunteer roles and responsibilities to meet the needs of hospice and pediatric patients and families. Assures that the Volunteer Programs is in compliance with all regulatory and quality standards. Completes necessary monthly and annual reporting to support the mission of the organization. Assists with assessment and definition of volunteer needs. Communicates with hospice staff regarding all aspects of volunteer availability and activity. Assists with building staff/volunteer relationships to solve problems and facilitate communication. Establishes and maintains cooperative links with other community agencies and volunteer groups. Assists with preparation of public relations materials and activities. Develops and supervises orientation, training and support (including continuing education) of volunteers regarding hospice philosophy, mission, policies and practice. Monitors and evaluates volunteers' performance. Attends weekly interdisciplinary meetings, and participates in the Quality Assurance Program. Participates in HPCFM Volunteer Coordinator meetings. Develops, organizes, and schedules health promotion/community health events. Participates in, provides and coordinates hospice education to the community and to providers served by the agency. In collaboration with the Hospice Director, participates in marketing activities and ensures ongoing relationships with community health providers and referral sources. Education/Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications or related social service field preferred. Experience in volunteer management, business management, human resources management or related activities. Excellent written, oral, presentation and problem solving skills. Demonstrated customer service approach. Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team. Registration/Certification: N/A. Physical/Environmental Requirements: This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.
