£12.60–£13.60 per hour with paid breaks.

Newlands Care Home is a small, family‑run home in Dunfermline, and we are looking for Relief Care Assistants to join our dedicated team.

About the role
During interview you will be asked about your availability. You will be rostered in advance and must be available every second weekend. You’ll provide personal care, reassurance and support to residents, ensuring their dignity, comfort and safety at all times. This is a physically demanding role and requires good time‑keeping and reliability. Flexibility is important – additional shifts may be available to cover absence or holidays.
What we’re looking for
* Reliability is essential, our residents depend on us, so we are looking for people with a strong work ethic, low sickness levels, and a commitment to being part of the team.
* Previous care experience (ideally in a care home).
* Some flexibility in the hours and days you are available to work.
* Availability every second weekend.
* A caring, friendly and respectful approach, able to put residents at ease.
* Patience, resilience and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations.
* Strong communication skills and a good sense of humour.
* Commitment to completing SVQ2 (if not already held) within 3 years.
It’s preferable that candidates live locally or have their own transport. Please check public transport options before applying.

* PVG membership (we will arrange and pay for this).
* SSSC registration within 3 months of starting.
