Job Description:
The HSE Assistant reports directly to the HSE Manager and supports the ongoing implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. This role involves actively assisting all staff in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Boccard UK’s internal HSE standards. Key responsibilities include conducting site inspections, participating in audits, and promoting continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
Based at the UK Manufacturing facility in Deeside, the responsibilities include:
* Monitoring and reinforcing a nuclear safety culture across UK operations, including coaching, safety interventions, toolbox talks, training, and hazard reporting.
* Assisting with updates to documentation, policies, and procedures to ensure they are current and communicated effectively.
* Facilitating new starter inductions and managing training records.
* Maintaining the H&S legal register.
* Developing a continuous improvement ethos regarding health, safety, and environmental issues.
* Promoting safe practices and acting as a role model.
* Attending safety meetings with subcontractors, clients, and staff.
* Conducting risk assessments, including COSHH assessments, and communicating results.
* Recording near misses, assisting in root cause analysis, and sharing lessons learned.
* Ensuring health surveillance reviews are conducted as required.
* Establishing procedures for safe plant and machinery operation, including maintenance and storage.
* Assisting in compiling monthly safety statistics.
* Having working knowledge of standards such as ISO 14001:2005 and ISO 45001:2018.
* Demonstrating a desire to learn and develop in the role.
Skills and qualifications:
* Holding a NEBOSH General or Construction certificate is desirable.
* Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
