Serco has a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Site Security Officer to join the team at MOC Hawthorn.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for all aspects of the contract's Security department in the absence of the Site Security Officer and will provide direct supervision to a team of Security Guards, ensuring departmental compliance with Serco and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining safety and security, possess excellent communication skills, and support the management of site security operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual to contribute to a safe and secure environment.
Key Accountabilities
1. Manage the provision of Security services in accordance with SDW contractual requirements, providing high-quality service to all stakeholders.
2. Assist in managing the entire employee lifecycle for West Security staff, including absence management, engagement, recruitment, induction, performance management, and recognition.
3. Ensure all security staff are aware of their responsibilities, properly trained, and adequately resourced to perform their duties, including legislative and workplace training.
4. Conduct performance reviews for security guards in line with the SMS.
5. Ensure adherence to security processes and provide evidence to support KPI contract compliance.
6. Promote business continuity and continuous improvement within the Security Department.
7. Provide subject matter expertise and advice to guards and external stakeholders as required.
8. Keep staff informed about current security regulations and alert levels.
9. Carry out security briefs as necessary.
10. Comply with all policies and processes within the SMS.
11. Uphold Serco’s values and behaviors.
12. Ensure all security staff hold valid SIA licenses and that welfare, first aid, and training requirements are managed according to the SIA ACS standards.
13. Represent the organization at meetings and briefings when required.
14. Report faults with the environment or equipment promptly.
15. Provide shift coverage as needed.
16. Build and maintain professional relationships with the customer.
17. Deputize for the Site Security Officer when required.
Any other duties as assigned by the Site Security Officer and Security Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Understanding of SPF, GovS 007, & JSP440 documents.
* Knowledge of MOD procedures related to document control, classification, handling, and destruction of Protectively Marked Assets.
* Knowledge of security guarding regulations.
* Strong supervisory and communication skills.
* Experience in secure or customer-focused environments.
* Proficiency in MS Office and similar software.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance.
* Front Line Security Guarding Licence or equivalent.
