Role Purpose
To support the design, sales, and delivery of renewable energy systems including heat pumps, solar PV, and battery storage solutions. The role is ideally suited to a graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Sustainable Energy Systems, or a related discipline, looking to develop a career within the renewable energy sector.
The successful candidate will assist with system design, technical calculations, customer proposals, and project coordination, while gaining hands‑on experience across domestic and commercial renewable energy projects. Training will be provided across all technical software, design standards, and industry regulations.
The role also supports the smooth operation of the sales and technical department by assisting customers, surveyors, and project teams throughout the customer journey.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities - Full training provided
* Answer incoming customer enquiries via telephone and email
* Assist with heat loss calculations and system sizing for heat pump installations (training provided)
* Assist with radiator sizing and emitter selection (training provided)
* Support the design and sizing of solar PV and battery storage systems
* Assist with ensuring PV designs comply with G98 and G99 requirements (training provided)
* Produce customer proposals, quotations, and technical documentation
* Follow up quotations and proposals with customers
* Liaise with customers regarding renewable energy solutions and technical queries
* Work alongside surveyors and technical designers to coordinate customer surveys and site information
* Collate survey information and prepare technical reports
* Produce final system designs and pricing using company software and design tools
* Manage multiple projects from initial enquiry through to sale
* Prepare detailed project handover documentation for the operations and installation teams
* Assist with DNO applications and supporting documentation where required
* Support the wider engineering and operations teams with technical and administrative tasks
* Maintain accurate records and project documentation
* Degree qualified (or working towards) in Mechanical Engineering, Sustainable Energy Systems, Building Services Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or similar
* Strong interest in renewable energy technologies and low‑carbon systems
* Good analytical and problem‑solving skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Confident using Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Experience using CAD or technical design software beneficial, but not essential
* Previous experience within the renewable energy or construction industry desirable, but not essential
