As a Software Engineer (Web Portal Developer), you will help develop, maintain and enhance customer-facing portal services that enable the delivery of mission-critical information and data products.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position requiring attendance to the Waddington Site Nr Lincoln when required.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
In this role, you will support the development, configuration and maintenance of secure web portal solutions used within a Defence environment. Working closely with customers, data analysts and development teams, you will help ensure the reliable delivery of portal services and data products that support operational decision-making. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of technical tasks, contribute to agile development activities and support the continuous improvement of systems and processes.
You will also play a key role in portal administration, product configuration and deployment activities across multiple environments. Using your technical expertise and problem-solving skills, you will help investigate issues, support integrations and contribute to the successful delivery of customer requirements in a secure and collaborative setting.
Key responsibilities:
•Develop & Maintain secure customer-facing web portal solutions
•Configure & Support document hosting areas and portal environments
•Collaborate & Engage with customers, stakeholders and technical teams
•Investigate & Resolve portal faults and configuration issues
•Create & Deliver standalone portal installation and update packages
•Support & Enhance agile software development activities and sprint delivery
•Configure & Test customer data products and associated datasets
•Deploy & Integrate solutions across multiple environments
•Perform & Validate cross-system verification and consistency checks
•Contribute & Improve portal administration processes and technical documentation
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
To succeed in this role, you should have a foundation in software engineering, web technologies or portal-based applications, combined with strong communication and problem-solving skills. You will be comfortable working in a collaborative team environment, engaging with customers and stakeholders, and supporting technical solutions throughout their lifecycle. Experience within Defence is beneficial but not essential, as training and support will be provided.
Essential qualifications and experience:
•Experience supporting, developing or administering web-based applications or portals
•Understanding of software development lifecycle principles and agile delivery approaches
•Knowledge of web technologies, application deployment and system configuration
•Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
•Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
•Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a structured environment
•Understanding of configuration management and software release processes
•Exposure to automation, scripting or DevOps practices would be advantageous
•Familiarity with SAFe Agile methodologies is desirable
•Defence, government or secure environment experience is desirable but not essential
•Eligible and willing to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC)
