Job Description
* Job Title: Offshore Chemist
* Job Location: Offshore from Aberdeen
* Hours: Average 1 week a month offshore
We are seeking an Offshore Chemist to join our team in Aberdeen. As an Offshore Chemist, you will perform sampling and analysis using recognized international methods and documented procedures, and prepare reports. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of analytical performance and ensuring smooth operation of the platform laboratory.
Key Accountabilities
* Ensure compliance with all test methods, procedures, and quality systems.
* Represent SGS on client sites, adhering to their test methods, procedures, and QHSE requirements.
* Liaise with the line manager and onshore support regarding equipment, methods, or samples issues, and initiate corrective actions.
* Identify and implement improvements to laboratory operations to maximize equipment availability, maintain, and improve technical standards.
* Maintain adequate stock of consumables to ensure continuous productivity.
* Ensure testing equipment is calibrated, safe, and suitable for use.
* Complete routine sampling, analysis, and reporting as per client procedures on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Qualifications
Essential
* Experience in offshore oil industry analysis, covering a broad spectrum of methods.
* Valid Medical/BOSIET/MIST certificates.
* HNC level in chemistry or related science, or equivalent.
* Offshore medical and survival certificates.
Desirable
* Experience in laboratory techniques and documentation.
* Knowledge of process management and chemical optimization.
* SBT01, Oil in Water, H2S Sampling experience.
