Production Manager - Light Forge & Steel Stock
Basic salary £40-45k basic depending upon knowledge & experience.
A fantastic opportunity to join a well established forging and engineering business based in Halesowen, West Midlands.
Hours: Monday to Friday 7.30 am to 4 pm.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
* To ensure quality engineering of components throughout the Light Forge and Steelstock.
* Be responsible for the day-to-day activities of all work through the Light Forge and Steelstock.
* Ensure health and safety within the workplace.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee day to day running of all forging, heat treatment and sawing within the business unit
Adhere to and encourage health and safety methods and procedures
Drive continuous improvement through Die plant and Steel Stock targeting an improvement in quality, productivity and communication with shop floor and between departments
Champion a training program across both areas to sustain and grow key skills including updating of training logs and matrices
Ensure that housekeeping reaches and is maintained at a high level.
Manage overtime effectively
Manage, support and mentor department managers and supervisors
Responsible for recruitment, annual PDRs and operator development
Responsible for the disciplinary process in the Forging, Heat Treatment, Die Plant and Steelstock areas
Responsible for ensuring adequate tooling, consumables and PPE are available when needed
Responsible for working to the production plan
Responsible for expediting jobs within the departments to meet the weekly sales plan.
Responsible for ensuring shifts and manning is planned to optimise output and managing overtime when necessary
Performing root cause analysis where necessary and in an agreed timeframe.
Responsible for NCR’s planned actions and closing out NCRs in an agreed timeframe.
Responsible for managing holidays and absences by ensuring cover is always available
Responsible for monitoring accuracy of ERP - INFOR system bookings
Feeding back on incorrect or inefficient routing of jobs.
Responsible for departmental throughput and reporting on any expected delays to daily/weekly/monthly production commitments
Responsible for communication at all levels within the Departments. i.e. daily/weekly briefings Team leaders/operators and updating of communication boards
Responsible for investigating excessive inefficiencies and overruns
Responsible for reporting Maintenance issues on plant & equipment
Reporting accidents with necessary supporting documentation i.e. witness statements and photos
Investigating cause and removing or reporting of defective equipment
Responsible for updating existing and writing new Risk Assessments
Carry out other duties, when necessary, such as:
* Production meetings
* Maintenance meetings
* Capital expenditure projects

* Recovery targets in parallel with Standard vs Actual hours variances
